Buzz on over right now!!!  This is the most inspirational, wonderful film I've seen in a long time.  Loved the entire cast, the story and especially the way it showed the power of caring, community and commitment.

Mildly PG.

We just got back from the show.  Everybody in the Samson family give the green light.  Want to show your support for good movies ?  This is one to see!  Not just a kid movie.

Hooray for Akeelah! Check it out this weekend.  (I'll bet I cried at least ten times.  And smiled even more.)

Lisa, just a bit of trivia -- this is the first movie that Starbucks has ever endorsed and done major cross-promotion with. They believe in the movie and its message. That made me want to see it! Hope to get out this weekend.

I'm so glad you posted this, Lisa! My youngest (8) and I saw it together and LOVED it! Maybe a eensy bit corny in spots but who cares. I mean, this was an INTERESTING story about a child's journey through a spelling bee, for crying out loud. Really good stuff. I'm sending the older kids next :-)
