Link: Purpose Driven Life. Here's my second offering in the Purpose Driven Life's Better Life Now newsletter. This month's theme: Making Memories. Check it out!
Some of my best childhood memories include not only my parents, but a gaggle of family and friends as well. Swimming at the Gunpowder River in Maryland for church picnics. My pastor allowing us kids to dunk him underwater. A communal meal spread down the length of several picnic tables like butter on bread - and there we'd be, dripping wet, hunger gnawing at our little bellies, and dear Lord, please don't let Pastor ask Mr. Jim to pray or we won't eat until next week!

Sometimes I wonder if making memories isn't about activities and special times as much as a lifestyle of community, service, and love.
Yes, truly. No fancy cruise aboard some ship with black mouse ears on its smoke stack could possibly compete.
Too bad I couldn't learn this until my late twenties. But then, praise God I did!

Shanna is a fast learner!!! I am slower, but your article hit it, girl. All my best memories have nothing to do with money. Most of them center around a feeling of "belonging." Thank you for writing this, because we need constant reminders of what's real and true and good.

Lisa,
I can't tell you how cool it is to read what you've written... in light of some conversations you and I and Will have had... imagine that.
God bless you all... hope you all have settled in.
I came over to find you because I'm sending a new poet friend to meet you and needed the url.
