First Person?
Third Person Omniscient?
Third Person Limited?
Second Person?
Do you try all sorts of things to do something different with POV? Multiple first person narrators? A first person onlooker? Good heavens. I have to tell you. I'm finally dabbling into the first person narrator who's not the main character and guess what? She's ending up as the main character! In some ways. Maybe not. I don't know. Too soon to tell. But what I can tell you, is that I always ache to do something different with POV and construction with each book I write.
Well, if you're tired of "the same old POV options" do yourself a favor and read Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five and Breakfast of Champions and see just how stretchy and creative you can be and still maintain a POV with integrity. It literally blows my mind. I mean, look at the guy. Does he look like somebody content to keep going with the same-old same-old?
If you're fine in your usual POVs. Great! But still read them. It may blow your mind too!
A caveat. Vonnegut isn't for those who are searching for that "Christian Fiction read". Vonnegut is a man's writer. Read at your own risk. 'Nuff said.
